The Latinx Caucus of the People's Alliance calls on members of the PA to participate in the National TPS Alliance's upcoming TPS Summit, Lobbying Day, and TPS Justice March in Washington, D.C. TPS (Temporary Protective Status) had been granted to certain qualifying individuals from El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Nepal, Sudan, and Liberia. Our current administration has ended TPS for these countries, ending protections for over 300,000 people and putting them at risk of deportation.
Our neighbors in Durham are organizing a caravan to Washington, D.C. on February 12, 2019. One bus will leave Durham that morning and is scheduled to arrive in Washington, D.C. at 9 a.m. returning that evening. The participants will lobby members of Congress to seek their support in continuing TPS and DACA, and for creating a path to permanent residency. Participants will receive training.
